Teams and roles

A team is a shared workspace: members work in the same Spaces and draw from one pooled credit allowance billed per seat. The team owner is responsible for team payments. Use a team when more than one person produces content together — an agency, a studio, or a couple of collaborators sharing the load.

Seats, credits, and payment

Team billing is per seat. Each seat adds a fixed monthly credit allowance to a shared pool that every member spends from — there are no per-person balances inside a team. Owners and admins can manage seats, buy team credit packs, and open the billing portal. The team owner pays for the seat subscription and every team credit pack, including purchases initiated by an admin.

Subscribe monthly or yearly — yearly bills the same seats up front and works out to two months free (about 17% off per seat) versus paying monthly.

Tip: buy team credit packs from Settings → Billing, then choose the team. Packs bought from your personal Settings → Billing always top up your own balance, never the team pool.

Personal vs team context

You can belong to several teams, but only one context is active at a time — either Personal or a specific team. The active context decides two things: which Spaces you see, and which credit pool a run spends from. Switch contexts from the chip at the top of the sidebar; switching to a team spends that team's pool, and switching back to Personal spends your own credits.

If a team's shared pool runs dry, members are asked to have an owner or admin top it up.

Roles

Every team has exactly one owner and any number of admins and members. Capabilities nest: an owner can do everything an admin can, and an admin everything a member can.

Capability Member Admin Owner
Use the team (Spaces, shared credit pool)
Invite / remove members
Edit team name & slug, publish / delete templates
Billing — subscribe, manage portal, change seats, buy credits
Promote / demote admins (manage the admin set)
Transfer ownership
Cancel the team

Owner

One per team. The owner manages who the admins are (promote a member to admin, or demote one back), and is the only role that can transfer ownership or cancel the team. The owner is the team's billing identity — the invoice and payment responsibility always remain theirs, including when an admin initiates a billing action.

Admin

The owner's deputies for day-to-day running: admins invite and remove members, edit the team, manage Space templates, and manage billing seats, credit packs, and the portal. Admins can't manage the admin set, cancel the team, or transfer ownership, and they never become the invoice's payer.

Member

Members do the work: they use the team's Spaces and spend from the shared credit pool, and can fork any Space templates the team has published.

Transferring ownership

An owner can transfer a team only when it has no live trial, open checkout, or unterminated subscription. If a subscription exists — including one scheduled to cancel at period end — cancel it in Billing and wait until it actually ends. Complete an open checkout or wait for it to expire. IceFold does not move the old owner's payment method, customer portal or invoices to another account.

After the transfer, the new person becomes the owner and pays for future purchases. The previous owner stays on as an admin, keeping member and billing management access but losing control of admins, team cancellation and ownership transfers.
